The Seasons at Myra Canyon Collaborative Art Project
An exciting collaborative art project has been completed by the Gallagher Canyon Art Society (GCAS) as a commission by the Myra Canyon Trestle Society (MCTS) to create a painting representative of Myra Canyon activities and landscape, for installation to the Myra storm shelter at Trestle #11. From three concepts presented, a scene drawn in pastel by Julia Hepburn was selected to be rendered as an acrylic 5ft x 10ft diptych. GCAS Art Instructor Tina Siddiqui was art adviser to the project, Tom Cooper, Greg Reese and Richard Laine professionally photographed the proceedings and Colleen Linttell was the project manager. Thirteen GCAS artists donated their time and talents and MCTS paid for all supplies and is responsible for the delivery and installation of the art. In August 2019 the original was installed in the new Tourism Kelowna Visitor Centre and a digital reproduction on alumna panel was officially unveiled and installed in the Myra Shelter in October 2019.
